Michael (Mikes Mess) Gorman

I was born on June 4, 1950 in Culver City, California.  I was born totally blind with cateracs, and had surgery done when I was 2 years old (do not remember anything of my life when I was totally blind.)  I started listening to music when I was 4 or 5 years old.  I got my first 78 records (I think it was given to me) which was Sha-Boom by the Chords on the original cat label.  I lost that record in a move but I hope to find another copy someday as the flip side was very good (little Madden.)

I started collecting records when I was 9 or 10.  I did not buy many records but had a few, I started seriously collecting records in around 1967 when we moved to a town called Augusts California (north of the San Fernando Valley.)  I would go to the Augusts Drag strip on the weekends and buy boxes of 45s that people were selling for about $1 or so.  I would not look at what I got until I get home.  Sometimes it was a waste, but other times I would find records that were collectors items and I was glad I spent that dollar.  This carried on until I moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1970.  I would still go to good well stores or if someone had a yard sale or garage sale I would look there.

I had my first (and only) radio job as a record librarian at KGBS in Los Angeles in 1971.  I was able to keep a copy of every song that was in the billboard charts back then.  That was cool for me and after leaving KGBS in 1972 I went to Los Angeles City College and took Broadcasting, but did not finish it.  I was not as interested in it as I thought I would be.

after a while of working and stuff I got into computers, and loved it.  I have an A+ Certificate and am a free lance computer technician.  I am currently going to a school to better my skills and hope to get an IT job in the near future.  I still have the love of music and do internet radio shows which I started doing in 1999 (my oldies and otr stations were on live365 back then.)  I have gotten to be friends with other collectors and have gotten back into playing radio and letting people hear my collection (click here to see my netcas page and when I am on the internet.)

Since 2001 my life has taking a big change when I met my sweetie Maureen Schulz.  She has been my inspiration to strive and do better.  I have not met anyone like her and we share allot together and now I feel my life is complete.  Thanks to her for what has been the best part of my life.  Well that is about all for me, and I hope you learned who I am and why I exist and thanks to all of you who have made this page work for me since 1998.   I surely appreciate all I have received in help and friendships I have gotten since I started this page.

bye for now
